CALL FOR ARTISTS
CALLING ALL PRINTMAKERS – After a great first year, Makers + Creatives is back to bring large-scale prints to the streets of Cheyenne. In conjunction with Paint Slingers’ annual street art festival and in partnership with Growth Foundry, Makers + Creatives is looking for artists to help bring these unique prints to life. All prints will be split 50/50 between artists and Makers + Creatives. Please share this opportunity with any artists you think may be interested.
Makers + Creatives was established in July 2019 as an adult-oriented creative club with the mission of making interesting events and learning experiences more accessible. Check out our website and Facebook to see past events including photos from last year’s event.
Over the weekend of July 17 and 18, 2021 Cheyenne will be host to a weekend full of arts events all over downtown. In the middle of it all, we’ll be hosting our popular Steamroller Printmaking event for the second year in a row.
Selected artists will design and cut a 3’ x 3’ linoleum block print, which will be printed using a steamroller during a designated 3-hour window of time. There is no theme or specific imagery associated with this call or the event: feel free to use your creative genius!
If you are, or know of, an artist that might be interested in this truly unique event, please contact us as soon as possible with some examples of your work and your plan for creating a 3’ x 3’ print using a linocut technique. If you are selected, we will provide you with the lino, as well as paper and ink at the event.
This call will close Saturday April 17, 2021. Artists will be selected and notified by April 24 and materials will be delivered as soon as possible. We will not be able to ship materials.
Check out this video to get a sense of the scale and the idea.
After a successful first year, we are looking forward to making this event even more remarkable in 2021. To be considered, please fill out this google form and on it include your personal information, examples of your work, and a sketch of your design idea for the 3’ x 3’ steamroller print.
